DEFINITION:
Net financial flows are disbursements of loans and credits less repayments of principal. Nonconcessional financial flows cover all disbursements except those made through concessional lending facilities. Regional development banks include the African Development Bank, based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, which lends to all of Africa, including North Africa; the Asian Development Bank, based in Manila, Philippines, which serves countries in South Asia and East Asia and the Pacific; the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, based in London, United Kingdom, which serves countries in Europe and Central Asia; the European Development Fund, based in Brussels, Belgium, which serves countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific; and the Inter-American Development Bank, based in Washington, D.C., which is the principal development bank of the Americas. Data are in current U.S. dollars.
