Definitions

  • Female rural population: Total number of females living in rural areas by country.
  • Female urban population: Total number of females living in urban areas by country.
  • Females living in cities proper: Total number of females living in cities proper. The UN definition for city proper varies for each country but usually refers to a locality with legal boundaries, some form of local government and does not include its outlying suburbs and districts. Numbers only include cities proper with a population over 100,000.
  • Females living in cities proper per thousand people: Total number of females living in cities proper. The UN definition for city proper varies for each country but usually refers to a locality with legal boundaries, some form of local government and does not include its outlying suburbs and districts. Numbers only include cities proper with a population over 100,000.
