China has compulsory military service for 24 months for men and women, after attaining 18 years of age. The exact figures of its military strength are notknown, but the CIA estimates are that, in 2004, over 200 million were fit for military duty. It also estimated that China's military budget is anything between 3.5% and 5% of its total GDP and that its military expenditure was around USD60 billion in 2003.

If anyone goes to war with any one of the 30 contreys in the United Nations, they would be blown to bits by uprisings, lack of resourses, and the massive wall of millions of soldiers. Were going to be safe for a very very long time. If anyone even tries to lanch a nuke at the americas, it will be shot down FAST.

"So basically if we go to war against the N. Koreans.... and China side with them..... we're in trouble??????"

Actually, no. Going to war with U.S.A. would be like throwing rocks at a mountain... Numbers mean nothing.

The Soviet Red Army used to twice a year draft every boy who had turned 18 in the last six months. The Red Army was full of kids from 18-20, few of whom reenlisted. An interesting statistic would be to find how many "lifers' are full time pros in different armies.
