The United States and the United Kingdom have warned of potential terrorist attacks in Kenya. The UK government already urged British citizens to leave the East African country's port city of Mombasa after a series of terrorist attacks. The latest advisory from the two foreign governments may continue to affect Kenya's tourism industry. President Uhuru Kenyatta said the country was visibly shaken following high-profile attacks in resorts located along the Indian Ocean coastline. Blasts in Nairobi and Mombasa killed seven people during the first week of May. The Kenyan Government has blamed the attacks on the al Qaeda-linked Somali group al Shabaab. Last year (September), terrorists killed some 67 people, including many foreigners, in a raid on a glamorous shopping mall in Nairobi.
According to some Western diplomats, Kenyan security forces, which receive aid and training from the United States, UK and Israel, have been weakened by internal rivalry. The rebel group has said it will continue to carry out attacks in the country to demand the pullout of Kenyan troops withdraw from Somalia. This was rejected by the Kenyan government. Kenya sent military units to Somalia in October of 2011 to chase insurgents who have been responsible for violence and kidnappings threatening tourism in east Africa's largest economy.

Kenya is particularly famous for its horticultural products. Nairobi which is the capital city is a regional commercial hub. As a recap, the economy has the largest by GDP in Southeast and Central Africa. Agriculture is a major employer and the country traditionally exports tea and coffee, and more recently fresh flowers to European countries.
